We listened to the first two chapters of Huck Finn on audio tape and concentrated on what kind of a boy Huck was.

After that, we worked on our blogs, adding links to my Huck Finn Blog and my website.  The first blog assignment has been posted on my Huck Finn blog (see “Blogroll” to your right).

HOMEWORK:  Continue reading (up through page 88 by 2/9) and complete first blog assignment.

WHAT’S NEXT:  Posting comments on others’ blogs.

We worked on our blogs today.  We learned how to log in, add a link to the blogroll and create a new post.  The first assignment has been posted on my reading weblog (http://mrvarnum.learnerblogs.org).  Remember that in addition to answer the posted question, you must add more insight, questions, comments to your post.  Use the post process as a study guide for the novel.

HOMEWORK:  Continue reading in the novel.  You must have the first 18 chapters done by Monday (through page 88).

WHAT’S NEXT:  Learning how to comment on the weblogs.

As we finish up the layout for the latest issue, we began watching All the President’s Men, focusing on how they practiced journalism to break one of the biggest stories in American history.  The Advanced students will have another project in place of the film.

HOMEWORK:  Story Generators are due tomorrow.
