We worked on our debates today.  We assigned teams and sides of the issue.  We will be debating troop withdrawal from Iraq and instituting the death penalty in Massachusetts.  Debates will begin the week of May 28.

HOMEWORK:  Continue reading in The Great Gatsby.  Complete the novel by Monday, 5/21.

While the section leaders worked on layout, the rest of us brainstormed story ideas from the story generators.  We came up with several great ideas.  We also wrote a brief about the extra curricular meeting which took place today.

HOMEWORK:  New articles due on Monday, 5/21.

While I checked notecards and outlines, students read “Soldier’s Home” by Hemmingway.  The also answered the “Shaping Interpretations” questions at the end of the story.

HOMEWORK:  Complete “Shaping Interpretation” questions. Finish reading Gatsby by Wednesday. 

WHAT’S NEXT:  Test on Gatsby on Friday.  Draft of research paper due on 5/21.
