We distributed books and talked about the American Dream and talked about the Our Family’s American Dream writing assignment. We also assigned the first set of vocabulary words (quiz on 9/10).

HOMEWORK: Look up vocab words (definition and part of speech) and read pp. 2-18 in text book.

We distributed books and read five sample college application essays. We discussed their merits and drawbacks and decided which of the students would be admitted.

HOMEWORK: Write a college application essay based on one of the topics from the Common Application.
