We finished our first edition today!!!

Students also worked on their stringbooks which were due today.

We listened to “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” in honor of Halloween.

HOMEWORK:  Finish next set of journals for Huckleberry Finn.

We watched the middle portion of The Scarlet Letter.

HOMEWORK:  Revise essays.

We watched the beginning of Excalibur looking to compare one of the knights with the knights we had already read about.

HOMEWORK:  Work on college applications or revisions of essays.

We took the vocab quiz today and continued our discussion of Huck Finn.

HOMEWORK: Next journals (Ch. 19-27) due Monday.

We took the test on The Scarlet Letter today.

HOMEWORK: 

• Read 66-71 (Bradstreet) and answer Shaping Interpretation questions on p. 71
• Read 77-82 (Edwards) and answer Shaping Interpretations questions on p. 83

We took the vocab quiz first.

Next we discussed “The Death of Arthur” and how it met the criteria for a “Romance” story.  We also compared the “Romance” genre to more modern stories (i.e. Harry Potter, Star Wars, The Matrix, etc.).

HOMEWORK:  Work on college applications.

We began by drawing a map of the Mississippi near Huck’s home and putting things on the map which tell us what is happening in the story.

Next we talked about how Huck’s opinion of Jim is developing.  We talked about the trick Huck plays on Jim and how they both react to it.

HOMEWORK:  Study for vocabulary quiz and continue reading the novel.  The next journals are due on Monday.

We took the vocabulary quiz on unit 3 today.

After that, we discussed “The Death of Arthur”.

HOMEWORK:  Work on college applications.

We continued to work on layout today.

HOMEWORK:  Story Generators are due on Friday.  Completed stringbooks are due on October 31.
