Today was an eye-opener.  I broke the class into groups and gave them a rubric based on the FCA’s for the last essay assignment.  They then graded the essays as a group.  Many people quickly realized that the essay they turned in was not acceptable.  We will continue this on Friday.

HOMEWORK:  Finish the novel by Friday.

I handed out the essay assignment today (Term One Research Paper Assignment) and we discussed how to organize the essay.

We continued by discussing the concept of chivalry and began reading “Sir Gawain and the Green Knight”.

HOMEWORK:  Finish reading “Gawain” and answer the Reading Check questions.  Study for the Unit 3 Vocab quiz on October 25.  Work on the essay.

We reviewed the final vocabulary definitions and read silently from Huck Finn.

HOMEWORK:  Continue reading in the novel.  We have a vocab quiz on Friday and your next set of journals (Chapters 10-18) are due on Friday.
