We began with a surprise quiz on “Thanatopsis”.

After that we discussed “Rip Van Winkle”.

HOMEWORK:  Read 175-179 (Wordsworth poems) and answer questions 1-6 (”Tide Rises, Tide Falls”) and 1-4 (”The Cross of Snow”) on page 179.

We took the quiz on Shakespeare’s sonnets.

After that, we broke into groups to discuss two thoughts:

• Power is stronger than love
• Humanity is controlled by fate; there is no free will

HOMEWORK:  Read p. 282-300 and take 15 notes on the most important aspects of the reading.

We continued working on the Huck Finn children’s books.

HOMEWORK:  Continue working on the books.
