We began studying Macbeth today. At the end of the unit students will turn in Macbeth Projects instead of a test or essay. I also handed out a set of vocabulary words for Acts I + II of the play.
We began reading Act I.
HOMEWORK: Finish reading Act I and answer Reading Check questions on page 318. The vocab quiz will be on Monday.

We began studying Unit 4 in the vocabulary book and read the poem “Thanatopsis” from the textbook.
HOMEWORK: Do “Completing the Sentence” on p. 54-55 in vocab book and review the poem to prepare for the quiz tomorrow.

We began a unit on column writing today. We looked at examples from Rick Reilly from Sports Illustrated and Kevin Cullen from The Boston Globe. We also began writing our own columns today for use in the next round of articles.
HOMEWORK: Story Generators due on Friday. Next articles due on 12/7.

We began with a surprise quiz on “Thanatopsis”.
After that we discussed “Rip Van Winkle”.
HOMEWORK: Read 175-179 (Wordsworth poems) and answer questions 1-6 (”Tide Rises, Tide Falls”) and 1-4 (”The Cross of Snow”) on page 179.
