We finished watching This is Spinal Tap today.

HOMEWORK:  Type II (20 lines) Show two ways the film satirizes the rock industry.  Complete all Swift readings and “Reading Check” questions.

I began by distributing the Syllabus for term three, 2007-08. We discussed our goals for the third term. We also developed a ballot for the mock election on Tuesday. We also discussed potential articles for next issue. Each student will be required to write an article on one of the clubs in the school.

HOMEWORK: Story generators are due on Tuesday, February 5. Two articles due on Monday, February 11.

We began by writing a poem using the world “Poetry” as the first letters of our lines.  After that, Mr. Redman came in a made a presentation about the choices for Senior English next year.  Your options are:

• Advanced Placement Language and Literature (AP)
• College Reading and Writing (Honors)
• Independent Research (Honors)
• Great Books (Honors or College Prep)
• War Literature (Honors or College Prep)

Students filled out a survey of our top three choices for next year.

We finished by reading the first part of Whitman’s “Song of Myself” and trying to determine what the man was like based on his poetry.

HOMEWORK:  Bring lit text and vocab book to class on Monday.  Journal entries are due Monday.
