We looked at the drafts of some of the Swift essays on the projector and discussed the different ways to do the thesis statement.

We finished by looking at an old column I wrote for my college newspaper.  It was an example of satire.

We discussed the first 88 pages of The Adventures of Huckleberry Finn and looked at some of the reading blogs on line so that everyone would have an idea of what I am looking for in this assignment.

We took the election and exit poll results from Tuesday’s mock election and used the information to write a news article.  Here are the guidelines for the assignment (mock-election-article-project.doc).

HOMEWORK:  Two articles due on Monday.  Bring in hard copies and submit them to Google Docs.

We began by writing sentences using the vocab words and using them as a practice test.

We discussed “I Hear America Singing” a bit more and began to read “Song of Myself” #10.
