I returned the Gatsby test.  We spent the remainder of the period talking about basic S.A.T. strategies.

HOMEWORK:  Read Chapter 3 in A Prayer for Owen Meany.  Thesis and sources for research papers due on Tuesday.

I collected the novel projects and met with each student regarding his/her research project.  Students continued working on their projects.

HOMEWORK:  Notecards are due on Tuesday.

We took a quiz on the last two chapters of the novel, and then we reviewed the vocabulary homework.

HOMEWORK:  Create note card for use on test and study vocabulary words.

I met with individual students to check the note taking process and make sure they have enough sources.  We also talked briefly about your introduction, transitions and conclusion.

Students used the rest of the period to work on projects.

HOMEWORK:  Thesis statements due on Wednesday.  Notecards are due on Monday, May 5.

Students worked on articles due Wednesday.

HOMEWORK:  Articles due Wednesday.

We began work on Unit 9 vocab unit.  The quiz will be on Friday.

Then we began reviewing for the test on The Great Gatsby (Thursday).

HOMEWORK:  Do the Completing the Sentence on 101-102.  Prepare for quiz on chapters 7-8 on The Great Gatsby

We read two poems from WWI:  “Rear Guard” and “Dulce et Decorum est” which could be used in the research paper.

HOMEWORK:  Continue working on the papers and projects.

We continued working on the articles which were due last week.  We also continued with layout for the last issue.

HOMEWORK:  Story generators are due on Friday.

We wrote sentences using the vocab words and took a practice test on Unit 8

HOMEWORK:  Study Unit 8 vocabulary for quiz tomorrow.

We reviewed the Completing the Sentence for vocab unit 8.

After that, we listened to more of chapter 7 of The Great Gatsby.
