We began by writing down the Focused Correction Areas for the college essay assignment:
- 40 points: Essay reveals a quality about you which may indicate success in college.
- 30 points: Essay includes an anecdote (story) which helps show the quality described
- 15 points: Circle three examples of imagery
- 15 points: Underline five examples of compound sentences
There will be automatic five point deductions for all spelling and sentence errors.
We spent the remainder of the period doing peer revision work.
HOMEWORK: Final drafts due on Tuesday.

Most of the class was taken up by student photos. We did get a chance at the end to view this website and explain how it works and study briefly for Monday’s vocab quiz.
HOMEWORK: Study for vocab quiz and continue working on your American Dream project.

We began by reading Kevin Cullen’s latest column in the Globe “Abstaining from Change” and discussing the difference between columns and editorials.
After that we looked at the newspaper website and finished reviewing Chapter 2 for the quiz on Monday.
