I distributed copies of The Kite Runner for the students to read.  Here is the reading schedule:

• Ch. 1-8 by 9/26
• Ch. 9-14 by 10/3
• Ch. 15-22 by 10/10
• Ch. 23-end by 10/17

We read the first two chapters out loud and took notes.

HOMEWORK:  Continue reading the novel.

We took the quiz on the “Beginnings” chapter to begin the class and used the rest of the class to write our “Voyage to Zoltan” journals.  I passed out the latest vocabulary list.  These words are taken from the textbook.

HOMEWORK:  Complete Zoltan journals.

We used the projector to look at the articles we wrote yesterday.  We worked on both order of information and writing style.

HOMEWORK:  Articles due tomorrow.
