We continued to work on the Vietnam Song Project.  I also distributed copies of The Things They Carried.

We reviewed the characteristics of American Romanticism and talked about what we would be reading for this unit.  The works we will study include (click the link for complete text:

• “The Legend of Sleepy Hollow” by Washington Irving
• “Thanatopsis” by William Cullen Bryant
• “The Tide Rises, The Tide Falls” by Henry Wadsworth Longfellow

The essay assignment on this unit will be to show how each work demonstrates two different characteristics of American Romanticsm.

We continued watching All the President’s Men in class today.

New web post due on Friday, November 7: Find an example of humor in the first 91 pages and explain why it’s funny. Be sure to cite the quote properly.

We began the Pride and Prejudice Research Project today. Students used class time to do research. The assignment rubric can be found here.

HOMEWORK: Finish reading Pride and Prejuduce through page 91. Be prepared for a one minute drill on Wednesday.
