We took a good long look at the article in the Boston Globe on the rumors of vampires at the Boston Latin School.

No, I’m not kidding.  There really was such an article.  Check it out for yourself.

We also spent time creating posters to promote the sale of our next issue, which comes out on Monday.

Students finished selecting their books for the Time 100 project.  The first web posting will be due on Friday, April 3.

HOMEWORK:  Begin reading the novel.

I showed the class the link to the Shakespeare’s Henry V text on the internet and asked them to find a copy by next week.

We looked at some of the individual blog entries today.

HOMEWORK:  Continue reading the novel and working on your weblogs.

Students used the period to decide which play we would read as a class:

• Pygmalion by George Bernard Shaw

• The Importance of Being Earnest by Oscar Wilde

• The Iceman Cometh by Eugene O’Neill

They also used the time to begin work on the Time 100 novel project.

HOMEWORK:  Find the book you are doing for your project.

Students used the time to work on their reading or their websites for the American Revolution projects.

HOMEWORK:  First reading web log entry due on Thursday.

We watched The Belle of Amherst, a video about Emily Dickinson.

HOMEWORK:  Read “The Narrative of the Life of Frederick Douglass” from p. 324-330 and answer reading check questions on 330.  Take notes that you can use on the quiz tomorrow.

The internet was down, so we used the time to plan our next issue.  We posted article titles on the board and discussed potential new ideas.

HOMEWORK:  Stringbooks and story generators are due tomorrow.

We took the test on Invisible Man today.

HOMEWORK:  Choose your novel for the Time 100 project (20th Century fiction).

We worked on creating reading logs on edublogs.org and placing those links on our wiki page.

HOMEWORK:  First reading weblog entries are due on Thursday.

We began our Dickinson presentations today.  Students were taking notes on the presentation.  The notes will be counted as a quiz grade.
