We took the quiz on the WWI poets.
After that, students created reading blogs on Blogger and began working on the first prompt:

We read the Boston Globe review of New Moon, the latest Twilight movie, and discussed it. We also read a column by a high school writer, and I encouraged students to write columns or reviews for their next article.

We began with a story starter writing activity: What’s your biggest pet peeve? Hopefully, this will generate some interesting columns.
We spent the remainder of the period peer editing articles.
