We discussed “Dulce et Decorum Est”, “In Flanders Fields” and “The Anxious Dead” in preparation for the quiz tomorrow.

We reviewed the “Completing the Sentence” vocabulary exercise.

HOMEWORK: Do “Choosing the Right Word” in vocabulary packet.

We began analyzing “Dulce et Decorum Est” today. We will continue tomorrow.

HOMEWORK: Continue studying vocabulary words.

Students received the newest list of vocabulary words (unit 5).

Then we read and analyzed “The Rear Guard” by Sigfreid Sasson.

HOMEWORK: Do “Completing the Sentence” using your own words to complete the sentence and underlining the context clues.

We began working on a unit on Columns and Reviews. Students read from the text book and filled in answers on a review sheet.

Students took the vocabulary quiz today.

After that, I distributed copies of Ernest Hemingway’s “Soldier’s Home”. Students read the story silently for the remainder of the period.

I also collected the April Morning/The Patriot essays.

HOMEWORK: Finish reading the story and answer the “Making Meaning” questions which follow.

We worked on our papers which are due on Monday.
