We took the quiz on the WWI poets.
After that, students created reading blogs on Blogger and began working on the first prompt:
What’s the best way to deal with a no win situation? Use examples from what you have read, studied or experienced in your own life to support your point.
HOMEWORK: Prepare for vocabulary quiz on Tuesday and complete blog post.

I returned the “Soldier’s Home” quizzes and we discussed the remainder of the WWI poetry in preparation for the quiz on Friday.

They also received the latest set of vocabulary words.
Following that, we analyzed “The Rear Guard” and started working on “Dulce et Decorum Est”. The quiz on the WWI poems will be on November 20.
The vocabulary quiz will be on November 24.

We took the vocab quiz on unit four today.
Following that, we discussed the history behind World War I and how the improvements in technology changed warfare.
We watched a short segment from All Quiet on The Western Front to get an idea of trench warfare.
HOMEWORK: Procure a copy of Catch-22 by Joseph Heller for bonus points by Tuesday.

I’m out of school today. Here are the plans for all classes:
Period 2 — College prep War Literature

Students can work on the paper that is due on Monday. They also may study their vocabulary words for Monday’s quiz.

They may use the computers.
Period 3 — Journalism

Students can work on their stringbooks or story generators on the computer.
Period 5B — Honors War Literature
Students can work on preparing for the debates which will take place on Friday.

I returned the tests on For Whom the Bell Tolls and distributed the words for Vocabulary Quiz 4. The quiz will be next Tuesday.
After that, students used the period to work on research for the debates (scheduled for Friday).
