We began watching All the President’s Men. While we are watching the film, I will be meeting with students to discuss their articles.

We began watching The Patriot in conjunction with out unit on Revolution. Students were assigned an essay to compare aspects of the film with April Morning. Click here for the assignment.

We took a quiz on The Great Gatsby, Chapter 7 today.  Most did not fare well, so there will be a retake on Wednesday.

HOMEWORK:  Finish reading Chapter 7.  Study vocabulary words for quiz on Friday.

I distributed a new list of vocabulary words today.  Students looked up the definitions in the dictionary.

I also gave students time to read Chapter 7 of The Great Gatsby in preparation for Monday’s quiz.

HOMEWORK:  Read Chapter 7 and prepare for the quiz.

We read Act III of Pygmalion together.  I also collected the graduation speeches.

HOMEWORK:  Novel essays are due on Tuesday.

We finished Act IV of Henry V.

Story Generators were due today and we shared out ideas and talked about some recent legal decisions which affect high school students.

HOMEWORK:  Articles due on Friday.

We took the vocabulary quiz for the first set of words from The Great Gatsby.  I also distributed study questions for the first two chapters.

HOMEWORK:  Prepare for the quiz on the first two chapters of the novel on Monday.

Students used the period to work on their Graduation speeches and their essays on their novels.

HOMEWORK:  Upcoming deadlines:

• Graduation speech due May  8

• Novel essay due May 12

The students who missed the quiz on Friday took it today.

After that, we listened to the prologue of Act IV of Henry V and used the detail in it to set the scene for the act.

HOMEWORK:  Continue working on the graduation speech assignment.
